As more and more countries work to slow down the spread of COVID-19, it’s become increasingly more common to see face masks being worn in public.

While in many cases it’s just good common sense that is driving face mask use, we are now seeing countries making face mask use compulsory.

Which countries? The following list of countries have some form of compulsory face mask rule now in place.

  • Czech Republic
  • Slovakia
  • Bosnia
  • Herzegovina
  • Austria
  • Morocco
  • Turkey
  • Poland
  • Jamaica
  • Germany

Rules and penalties vary location to location, but Morocco stands out due the strength of its penalties. In Morocco, anyone who fails to wear a face mask faces a prison sentence of up to three months and a fine of 1,300 dirhams ($130).
